Southwark Friends of the Earth is a local environmental campaign group based in South London, taking action on a range of local, national and international issues including climate change, corporate responsibility, real food, trade justice, sustainable ransport, waste & recycling. Transport 2000 "An independent national body concerned with sustainable transport. It looks for answers to transport problems and aims to reduce the environmental and social impact of transport by encouraging less use of cars and more use of public transport, walking and cycling." Free Cycle London Yahoo egroup that's free and open to all who want to "recycle" rather than throw things away, members post items up that they're giving away free. Ecotricity Sustainable Electricity company, they invest any money they make in clean forms of power, such as the new wind turbines in Dagenham, visible from the London Eye. They promise to match London Electricity's prices, so you don't pay any extra, but the profits go to a generating more green power than the Electricity companies are required to by law, unlike other schemes such as npower's friend of the earth sponsored 'juice' tariff. |
