1. INTRODUCTIONS AND PREVIOUS MINUTES
The minutes from the last meeting were agreed.

2) BIKE WEEK
A leaflet has been produced by PC which needs a  little editing, and the various events were discussed. Volunteers were requested to help hand out leaflets to  cyclists at various points on Thursday after work and Friday for cyclists going to work. BM arranging for a banner to be produced which will be erected before each event to advertise it, eg at the Southwark Needle for afterworker rides. Evans at London Bridge have kindly agreed to provide us with a table to use for leaflets, and will store the banner each evening. Volunteers were called for to help out at the
Burgess  Park Bike Track opening.

Breakfast at Tate Modern: It appears that there  will  be a lot of press at this event and MPs will be cycling off to Westminster to work. Simon Hughes has said that he won't be cycling to Westminster as he  wants to "hang out with his mates from Southwark Cyclists"! BM has requested that cyclists do not  follow the MPs into Westminster because of security
fears of random people gaining access to parliament. There was still no confirmation that cycles would be  allowed into the Turbine Hall for a photoshoot for fear of possible damage to sculptures. The Curry Breakfast has sadly been abandoned by PC for  this week and will hopefully be picked up later in the  summer.

3. FUNDRAISING AND FUTURE PROJECTS
BM suggested that we use the example of the  progress  and success of Burgess Park Bike track to apply  for  future funding. It was agreed that we base more funding applications onto
 the new track.

Other projects: Ten suggested that we should adopt a project/cause celebre, ie a non-cycle friendly  junction, to try and get interest and therefore  some  action. For example, a cyclist has complained via the  email distribution list about the problem at Love  Walk/Rye Lane. Ten to trace and ask him/her to  attend  the next monthly meeting and discuss their  complaint.  It was suggested that we follow this pattern for  future complainants but this will be discussed in
more  detail at the next meeting.

 4) PLANNING ISSUES
Nobody in attendance to report back, but Canada  Water  bike park is apparently still "on track".

Canada Watersports Centre has said it wants to put up  security fencing around their premises which would  block off the cycle path around Greenland Dock.  They  have apparently had problems would vandalism to  boats  and equipment etc. BM took this up with the GLA  who have agreed that if the Watersports Centre was allowed  to erect a fence, it would encourage all the  property  owners in the area to do likewise, thereby  completely  blocking off the cycle path. It looks like they will now only close that path off during special events.  Herne Hill Velodrome - Southwark Council have  guaranteed to cover the running costs for the next two  years, and the Velodrome Trust will be looking at applying for lottery funding for next year. Only one Southwark Cyclist went to the Friends AGM.

5) NEWSLETTER
Evans of London Bridge are interested in sponsoring 6 months' costs of p&p. There were mixed views about this (ie asking other cycle shops to hold the newsletter with an Evans ad on it) and it was agreed to abandon the idea for the time being. The next deadline for newsletters is 16th July.

6) RIDES
PC has produced a new list which is on the website. It was suggested that we have rides and a stall at various festivals such as Rotherhithe, which would be a family ride around the area, and possibly an afterworker ride plus picnic to an event at the  Greenwich & Docklands festival.

7) SOUTHWARK'S CYCLING OFFICER
 Not in attendance.

8) AOB
Nunhead and Peckham Community Council are having a   transport-based meeting on 28th June and the  presence  of a Southwark Cyclists management team member is
important - BM unable to attend. He asked whether anybody else would be able to.

Next meeting to be held on Wednesday, 14th July
2004 at Blackfriars Settlement, 1-5 Rushworth Street,
SE1. at 7pm.
